Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)

SBCSELPA Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is a collaborative and cost-effective process for resolving special education compliance disputes between parents/guardians, adult students, school districts/LEAs, and other agencies.

ADR follows a three-level process that may include the assistance of a third party SBCSELPA ADR Cadre Member or the SBCSELPA Executive Director if disputes cannot be resolved at the local level first.

Upon request, a trained SBCSELPA ADR Cadre Member can facilitate an IEP or non-IEP meeting to resolve the issue in dispute.

Please contact the SBCSELPA or your school district/LEA special education director to initiate a request for ADR.
