SELPA ADR Workshop #1: Before and After School Programs: How to Include and Address the Needs of Students with Disabilities

Santa Barbara + SLO County SELPA Present:

Building ADR Practices Through Legal Understanding by Jennifer Rowe Gonzalez, Attorney, JRG Consulting

Do students with disabilities have a right to participate in before and after school programs, including sports and ELOP? Do students with disabilities get to bump other students from the program? Is this right an absolute right or are there requirements for participation? If a student participates, what supports must be provided to allow a student to participate? Who can demand the supports? The student? The parent? The program? How is the plan for these supports developed? This workshop will answer these questions and more about the rewarding, but sometimes complicated, process of allowing students with disabilities to participate in before and after school programs.
