Community Advisory Committee (CAC)
*** TIME: TBD ***
What is the CAC and its importance?
ββββThe Community Advisory Committee (CAC) is a Santa Barbara County SELPA committee made up of parents, educators, and community representatives dedicated to supporting students with disabilities and their families. The CAC advises on the SELPA Local Plan, encourages community involvement, promotes communication between families and schools, provides parent education on the IEP process, supports student success, and organizes events and activities that strengthen special education services throughout Santa Barbara County. The CAC meets four to six times each year.
CAC Membership and its Benefits
ββββThe Community Advisory Committee (CAC) welcomes parents, educators, and community agency representatives who are passionate about supporting students with disabilities. To be considered for membership by an affiliated school board, applicants must be a parent of a child with disabilities, a special education teacher, a general education teacher, or a representative of a community agency serving individuals with disabilities. As a CAC member, you’ll have the opportunity to advocate for students, families, and educators, receive mileage reimbursement for approved CAC meetings and events, and enjoy discounted registration for select SBCSELPA events.
All meetings and events are open to the public.
