Joint Powers Agency Board Meeting

The public is welcome to attend any of the JPA Board meetings at the designated location for that meeting. The Joint Powers Agency (JPA) Board is the decision-making body for the Santa Barbara County SELPA and derives its power from the statutes of the State of California and from a Joint Powers Agreement approved by all school districts in the county. It is the policy of the Board to encourage public participation in the Board’s activities in order to fully promote communication with interested persons and entities in Santa Barbara County. All meetings of the JPA Board are public and accessible. Deliberations of the Board, except for those appropriate for closed sessions, shall be conducted openly and all actions taken in public session. The following is a summary of the organizational structure of the JPA Board. SBC SELPA Joint Powers Agency (JPA) Board Membership is comprised of nine Santa Barbara County School District/local education agency superintendents that represent school districts by service type and area: * (2) Two North County Non-direct Service District Representatives * (2) Two Central County Non-direct Service District Representatives * (2) Two South County Non-direct Service District Representatives * (1) One Santa Barbara County Direct Service District Representative * (1) One Charter School Non-direct Service District Representative * 9th through 12th Grade High School District Representative (Included in 1 of 2 North, Central, and South County Non-direct Service District Representatives) * Santa Barbara County Superintendent of Schools Representative JPA Board Meeting Schedule: 2026-2027 SBC SELPA JPA BOARD MEETING DATES (All Monday Dates) All meetings will begin at noon on the first Monday of each month unless otherwise announced. The meeting locations are marked and detailed below. 2026 July 2026 – No Meeting August 31, 2026* September 2026 – No Meeting October 5, 2026* November 2, 2026 – Jonata December 7, 2026* 2027 January 2026 – No Meeting February 1, 2027* March 1, 2027 – Jonata April 2027 – No Meeting May 3, 2027 – Orcutt June 7, 2027* * – These dates the JPA Board will have 2 in-person meeting locations: *a. North County Location – Orcutt Union School District (OUSD) Technology Center, 500 Dyer Street, Orcutt, CA 93455 *b. South County Location – Santa Barbara County Education Office (SBCEO), 4400 Cathedral Oaks Road, Santa Barbara, CA 93110 in either the Cabinet Conference Room or the Board Room. c. Jonata – Meeting will be held at the Jonata Middle School Library, 301 Second Street, Buellton, CA 93427.
